Expire and Reserve Time Examples

Important
The application sets the expiration and reserved time when actually placing the call to the individual since there can be a time discrepancy between placing the call into the call queue and actually calling out to a person.

Expires (min): The vacancy offer will expire for each candidate after this time has elapsed.

Reserved (min): This is the amount of time (in minutes) that the vacancy will be reserved for each candidate.

This applies to candidates identified for this List. Example: an offer may be presented 24 hours before the vacancy, reserved for one hour, and set to expire the morning of the vacancy.

Based on the Time of the Offer

From the time of the offer each person has 10 minutes reserved for a vacancy and the offer expires after 20 minutes.

  1. During the first ten minutes after the offer is made, the offer is reserved for Person 1. During the first ten minutes after the offer is made, the offer is reserved for Person 1.
  2. After Offer + 10 minutes, if the vacancy is still open, Person 2 receives an offer. From 10 minutes through 20 minutes, both Person 1 and 2 can still respond to this offer.
  3. At twenty minutes after the Offer, the offer for Person 1 has expired (person 1 is no longer eligible for this position) and the application will call the next candidate: Person 3. For the next ten minutes, both Person 2 and 3 are eligible for the open position.
  4. This process continues until the position is filled or the entire list chain has been called.

Based on the Start of the Shift

In this example, the first candidate has the offer reserved until one day before the vacancy (start time -720 minutes). At one hour before the vacancy (-60 minutes), this offer expires and the first candidate is no longer eligible for the opportunity.

A negative symbol indicates time prior to the start time of the vacancy. This format is typically used for hiring for future positions i.e. scheduled vacations. This list will run until every candidate is called or until the position is filled.

  1. In this Scenario Person 1 has been offered an opportunity to work. This opportunity has been reserved for Person 1 until one day (720 minutes) before the vacancy starts. In this period of time no one else will be offered this position.
  2. At 60 minutes before the vacancy starts, this opportunity will expire for Person 1 and Person 2 will be offered this opportunity to work.
Note: Note: This List would be used for future hiring scenarios and is not recommended for day of hiring.

Multiple Offers

Positive Reserve and negative Expire times can be used to offer several candidates an opportunity to work; thus giving the opportunity to the first candidate to respond to the offer.

In this scenario, the same opportunity is offered to a new person every 10 minutes. The first person to accept the offer is awarded the opportunity. All offers expire an hour before the shift start time.

Same Reserve and Expire Times

Setting Expire and Reserve times at the same value (e.g., 10 minutes) enables the application to call one person at a time and reserve the position for them for the specified time frame before moving to the next candidate.

Formatting Reserve and Expire Times Correctly

The Expire time needs to be greater than or equal to the Reserve time when using positive values; otherwise only person will be called from the list.

When a negative Expire and Reserve time is used, the opposite is true: Reserve values should be greater than Expire values.
