The Override Assignment Work Code area in the
person’s Assignment tab is used to automatically override
a person’s regular duty work code on the Roster with a different
work code for an extended period of time. This feature is used when
a person is on leave and their workday status on the Roster is uncertain
due to external factors, such as military leave, maternity leave,
light duty, FMLA, disability, and so on.
There are two ways to handle long-term exceptions using the Override
Assignment Work Code feature:
- Option A: Recommended for employees that do not affect
minimum staffing levels. Create a new assignment, use the same assignment
area and shift, then select the new work code in Override Assignment
Work Code > On-Duty.
- Option B: Recommended for employees that affect minimum
staffing levels. This option requires an extended exceptions area
to be configured in the organizational structure. This organizational
extended exception area (unit) is used when creating the new assignment
in order to move the person in the ‘extended exceptions’ unit. Additionally,
you must assign a shift that will reflect the correct number of
hours for the selected work code in Override Assignment Work
Code > On-Duty.
Note: The Override Assignment Work Code area does not log hours or dates to
a logging bucket when those records are fixed or finalized.
