The Job Allocation tool is used to create a schedule and staff unallocated employees to blueprint driven events on the Staffing, or Planning board for a day, week, or period. Unlike, Fill by rules... which is used to backfill positions resulting from shortages or unplanned absences, the Job Allocation tool builds a schedule for employees available for work but unallocated.
The job allocation tool allocates employees to jobs they meet the job requirements for. In essence, this is person-centric staffing. Fill by rules... is position-centric, where the system evaluates the position in a specific order and then returns unscheduled available and qualified resources to fulfill the job requirements. The job allocation tool attempts to match the person’s skill and status to that of the job requirements. In other words, which jobs can Joe work, rather than who can work this job?
