Scheduling Via Job Allocation

A Job Allocation Strategy must be configured in Setup > Schedule prior to use.

To schedule employees using the Job Allocation tool:

  1. Go to the Planning Board.
  2. Scheduling choices are:
    • To schedule all of the blueprints in view, click Jobs and select Allocate Jobs. The job allocation panel opens and returns all of the blueprints by default.

    • To choose which blueprints to run the job allocation tool for, click the pencil icon, select Advanced Edit Mode, and select the blueprint or blueprints you want to run the job allocation tool for. When ready, click Jobs, and select Allocate Jobs.

    • To access the job allocation tool from the Staffing Board, click Blueprints > Select Blueprints. Doing so opens the Planning Board. Select the check box next to the blueprint or blueprints to run the job allocation tool for. When ready, click Jobs, and select Allocate Jobs.

  3. In the Job Allocation panel, verify the blueprint or list of blueprints selected. When ready, in the Job Allocation Strategy field, start typing the name of the desired job allocation strategy to return matching items. To return all job allocation strategies configured in your Setup area type the percentage sign %, or the underscore _.
  4. Click Save to start the job allocation tool. To view the results, go to the Staffing Board.

    As of application version 6.6.1 blueprints running the job allocation process will turn red and show an hourglass icon to indicate blueprints running in the job allocation process. Blueprints running in the job allocation process are not accessible. Blueprints outside of the job allocation process are fully accessible, this means menu options such as Nudge, Publish, Remove and so on enable when a blueprint is accessible. When the job allocation strategy is complete a notification in a green dialog box will display at the top center of the screen from anywhere in the application to alert you that the job allocation process completed.1 To remove the notification you must close the notification, otherwise it will persist across screens until closed.

  5. From the Staffing board, click Blueprints to return the desired blueprints.
  6. Click Save to start the job allocation tool.

To view the results, go to the Staffing Board. Additionally, if idle since the job allocation completed, then you may need to refresh the page to see the blueprints return to their normal selectable state because the job allocation function runs asynchronous2. Allowing users to run the job allocation tool and continue using other areas of the application. If you’re on the Planning board when the job allocation completes, the blueprints will return to their normal and selectable state when you take any action that causes the page to refresh.
