Authority Assignment Types

Authority Assignments are used to enable certain Authorities. Generally, the user’s active rank in their Profile tab enables the Authority Assignment for the target day.

Authority Assignments enable as follows:

Base Authority Enables when the user does not have an active rank in their Profile, and typically triggered by date gaps in the From and Through fields between multiple profiles. The base authority rarely activates but designed to prevent a user from losing system access as a result of an administrative oversight where a lack of a profile or date gaps within prevents the person from accessing the application. Assigned in:

Person > General tab

Rank Authority Overrides the Base Authority and enables when the user has an active rank in their profile. The selected rank of the active profile determines the default rank authority assignment.This is the default authority. Configuration in:

Setup > General > Rank

Assigned in:

Person > Profile

Acting Authority Overrides the default rank authority assignment. Enables when the user is working out of class. A user inherits the acting authority for the day they are scheduled and activates on that day. Acting authority is used when a person’s authority changes by the job filled. Generally, the acting authority and rank authority are the same in setup configurations. Configuration in:

Setup > General Rank

Authority Override Overrides the default Rank Authority. Used to give a person more or less system rights than the default rank authority grants. Typically given to a person who has more or less system rights than counterparts of the same rank. Assigned in:

Person > Profile

Can Act As Authority Override Overrides the Acting Authority. Used to give a person more or less system rights than the default acting rank authority grants. Typically given to a person who has more or less system rights than counterparts of the same acting rank. Assigned in:

Person > Profile
