A Special Day is typically used to define a holiday or a day when different staffing procedures are followed.
Special days are used to do some or all of the following:
Define holidays or significant dates; for example Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year’s Day.
Define dates that change staffing procedures; for example, hosting the Super Bowl, Kentucky Derby, Black Friday, Calgary Stampede, Boxing Day and so on.
Used with Special Day Groups to display special days on the Calendar and Roster.
Prevent time requests that fall on all or any special day.
Fairly distribute overtime opportunities, either to include or exclude or sort in some order the candidates that last worked the special day.
Trigger roster count alarms to prevent personnel shortages.
Important: Special days should not be removed or altered in production when they are linked to scheduling or work code rules because doing so may affect staffing. This includes Special Days in the past.
