Authority | Determines the security access level for this rank when active. |
Configuration Note: Use the Authority Override function in the person’s Profile to assign different authority levels to specific people and not by job title. | |
Acting Authority | Determines the security access level when a different person is acting in this rank. Acting authority activates the day of and keeps with rank order in Setup so be sure ranks are in order of command hierarchy. |
For example, today is 1/22/2014. An Engineer will be acting up as a Captain on 1/25/2014. Today that Engineer has limited Captain capabilities for only 1/25/2014; no dates before or after. When 1/25/2014 comes, the Engineer has full Captain functionality on1/25/2014 and all past and future dates. | |
Optional: Level | Used for Base Rules to sort or qualify personnel. |
External ID | This optional field stores reference data that
identifies the selected job (rank) in an external application. IMPORTANT: Customers using Dimensions will see the Dimensions reference number for the selected job. Do not edit the external ID in this application, doing so will create undesirable synchronization issues. |
Equivalent | Used to consider additional ranks that are equal to the selected rank when filling vacancies. See image below. |
Note:
When running People Filter rules, equivalent treats the selected ranks as equal. Use Can Act As attributes in a person’s profile when only some individuals can fill vacancies for the selected rank. |

Optional: Roster Can Act As | If checked, displays personnel on the Roster that can act as the selected rank. |
Optional: Formula ID Headcount | If checked, this rank will be included in the Position Formula IDs HeadcountInRegion, HeadcountInStation and HeadcountInUnit totals. Specific ranks can be targeted to be counted using this option. |
