Type In application version 6.7, specialties were enhanced with Skills & Certifications and detached from the person Profile. Configuration settings for Skills and Certifications are located in Setup > General > Specialty. Specialty Types Include:
  • Specialty: A legacy type specialty. No change in functionality. This specialty is assigned at the person > Profile level. A legacy specialty can hold a proficiency skill level and an expiration date with the effective date at the profile level.
  • Skill: Available in 6.7, a skill is located in person > Skills and Certifications. A skill has an optional effective date, a proficiency level association and can have multiple dates without creating additional profiles.
  • Certification: Available in 6.7, a certification is located in person > Skills and Certifications. A certification has an optional effective date, an expiration date, a reference number, a proficiency level association and can have multiple dates without creating additional profiles.
Keep with Name Displays the abbreviation of this specialty on the Roster next to the person's name.
Regular Duty If checked, this specialty can be filtered by Rules. Regular duty specialties can trigger an alarm using Static Work code issues. Depending on the severity level of the Issue, candidates may be restricted from Trading with candidates who do not have a regular duty specialty.
Filter Target Allows this specialty to be a selection using People Filter Base Rules.
Roster Headcount If checked, displays the selected specialty in the Roster Headcount matrix. Must use with work code setting Roster Headcount.
Equivalent Used to consider additional specialties that are equal to the selected specialties for staffing. Equivalent specialties may be used interchangeably when staffing vacancies. ONLY specialties of the same type can be made equivalent to each other. The user interface will only present valid equivalent items.

Example:

Suppose Specialty 1 is of type Skill, and Specialty 2 is of type Certification, Specialty 3 is of type Specialty (legacy), and Specialty 4 is of type Skill. In this case, only Specialty 1 and Specialty 4 can have an equivalent association because they are both of type Skill.
