About Roster Attachments (Notes)

Notes on the Roster are called attachments in this application. Attachment behavior is driven by their configuration in Setup.

In application version 6.7 managing attachments on the Roster was simplified with the introduction of inline attachments, the paper clip icon visible at every organizational level to the far right of the Roster.

The difference between using the classic attachments vs. the inline attachments is ease of use. Backward compatibility of attachments (classic attachment page) remains the same and available by clicking on any organizational level such as Unit name, Station name... or click the person’s name to open the menu options and show the Attachment link, clicking the link navigates you to the classic attachment page. The classic attachment page is also available via the Inline Attachment popup by clicking the More Details link.

With the addition of inline attachments users can quickly add, remove, or edit attachments on the Roster for the day without the back end complexity of attachments. Attachments are complex and dynamic with various settings that can be applied to an Attachment Group in setup that controls the user’s interaction with Attachment on the Roster, such as whether or not to show a date parameter, or infinitely appear on the Roster, or show predefined items to denote equipment, and whether or not an attachment can be shared and so on.

Inline Attachments are similar in scope to Edit without Rules, and if the Attachment Group is configured in Setup to display in the Inline Attachments popup then all other check box behaviors such as Temporary and whether or not a device can be shared are overwritten via the Inline attachments popup. To apply attachment group settings configured in setup use the attachment classic view.
