When the scheduled hours change for the day or several
days, use a Shift Edit or similar in concept work code to
remove the person from their scheduled shift hours.
The application runs business rules and calculates minimum staffing
levels to build the roster for the given date. Because of this,
an exception code is needed when a person is released from their
regular scheduled hours. Essentially, the exception code captures
that transaction and releases the person from their shift assignment
and when applicable contribute towards minimum staffing levels.
Examples for Shift Edit work code usage:
- Suppose an employee is released from their shift assignment
that runs from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. to cover a shift shortage spanning
from 3 p.m. through 12 a.m. To remove the hours associated with
the regular shift assignment use the Shift Edit work code from 6
a.m. through 3 p.m.
- Suppose an employee is released from their assignment for one
week to attend a training seminar for a different set of hours.
To remove the hours associated with the regular assignment go to
the person’s calendar, select that person’s regular scheduled days
and use the Shift Edit work code to release the person from their shift
assignment.
- Suppose an employee is working two overlapping shifts regularly
scheduled in Area 1 from 6 a.m. through 3 p.m. and filling a shift
shortage in Area 2 from 1 p.m. through 10 p.m. Since the employee
is working the entire shift in Area 2 use the Shift Edit work code
from 1 p.m. through 3 p.m. in Area 1 to remove these hours.
